Catching up #3

There were so many events happening this summer. Here are a few more. 

Just too cute.

Lulwanda Primary School held a teacher conference for our teachers and 60+ teachers in the Mbale district.

Science experiments. They had never seen the soda volcano with mentos and were pretty excited. 

"But teach... aren't we wasting soda? Can't we just drink it?"
(Notice the clever student who ran to get a cup in between volcano set ups :) )

105 Buckets of Hope were delivered to our neighbors around Lulwanda.
(1 kg beans, posho, rice, sugar, gnut paste, soap, vaseline, a mosquito net, and a bible)

Delivering tangible hope to the poor and needy.

AND if the summer events were not enough, Lulwanda Primary School students also spent countless hours preparing and practicing for the primary school Music Competition.

And last but not least, Lulwanda Children's Home received special visitors, the Palmer family, who are preparing and fundraising to serve as missionaries with LCH starting in 2014. Please pray with them as the take this step of obedience to move to Uganda and love/disciple the children of LCH.

Catching up #2

And the fun of the summer continues...

Catching up.... part 1

Hello, here I am... still alive :)

I have been putting off this blog for so long now because how do you even begin to catch up on all that has happened in 4 month (or whenever my last post was). It is funny how I can have such great ambitions to post every week and tell witty or insightful stories of life here and then.... life happens and I live it and never get around to writing a blog about it. 

So, instead of feeling the "I should have done this or thats" then I am going to summarize the summer Team season in picture to catch you up a bit on what has been going on (not in any particular order of the actual occurrence of events). 

TEAMS, TEAMS, and MORE TEAMS. May through August is our busiest season with visitors and teams coming from the States to bless our children and staff at LCH. As the program coordinator, this is one of my main roles and responsibilities- to plan for and host the teams. And what a blessing they have been. 

But first, look at these sweet faces. I just love them so much!

Youth from Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church visited Lulwanda and held devotions each afternoon with our whole school. 

Global Journey travels the world each summer and we are lucky enough to be one of their stops. I had a blast having them at LCH and hosting them in my home.

Musicians always find one another. These are three talented musicians.

Rockstarz Entertainment music video with MDPC Youth Team

Among the many awesome things the Lord did this summer, He also brought a group of youth from MDPC to Uganda to work with the kids at Lulwanda Children's Home.

One morning they took a break from the norm and hiked up the nearby mountain to film this awesome video produced by Rockstarz Entertainment.

I hope you enjoy watching as much as they did filming.

What is the greatest commandment?

In the village, education sometimes comes secondary. Though the country offers free education, the stresses of the cost of school uniform, shoes, and even school supplies can be too much for a family to allow all their children to go to school.

Backpacks of Promise:

Some of Lulwanda's wonderful friends from Books are the Beginning supplied our LCH children with backpacks and scholastic material to give out to some of the students in the surrounding village. 

100 backpacks; 100 students = lots of joyous hearts encouraged in their education

My group climbed halfway up the side of a big hill to reach some neighbors who were so excited to see us, much less to receive a backpack of supplies. In appreciation the last two families gave us 3 chickens 

It was a wonderful day to love our neighbors as we have see and receive the Father's love everyday.

Things that make me smile

May 2...

Six years ago, to the day, I arrived at Lulwanda Children's Home.

And my life was forever changed.

My heart:

 has been filled with love

has been humbled by provision

has been protected in the shadow of His wings

has been shown grace abounding

has been convinced of hope

is full
